Release, Clarification, and the Future

Happy Easter!

First off, I want to thank each and every one of you that has showed interest in The Blue Cloth. It really means a lot to me.

The Blue Cloth was first conceived when I tried to force myself to learn how to draw a while ago (it's not pretty), and I gave up after making two pages, and then redrawing those pages, and then just trashing it altogether.  At the time, the story wasn't very deep and I hadn't really planned anything ahead. I had been working on a pretty large visual novel project for a while that probably won't see light of day for quite some time, when this year's NaNoRenO came up. I lost my job at the start of February, so I decided "Hey, I got some free time, might as well give it a shot!", and I dove right into this project.

I had initially intended for this to be a standalone short story. Just something to write and finish, maybe learn a thing or two about the program, etc. Just kinda get my feet wet, so to speak. Well, as all things go, I started to really enjoy writing and fleshing out these characters. Their interactions and their feelings while dealing with this theme of feeling alone while you aren't "alone", was just so enthralling to me. As I added more details and sorta 'fleshed out' the world, what was a simple 5-6k word short story became a nearly 10k word short story. Overall I'm really proud of how it turned out.

For The Blue Cloth to be made in a single month, with all the writing, music production, and coding, there was no way I could have done this on my own. I want to thank and applaud my artists and close friends, Maxbear and Coffyeen, for really helping me out and pulling through for me. I wouldn't have been able to do it without them, and I certainly wouldn't be as happy with this story as I am if it weren't for their incredible talent! (And I'm so sorry for riding you two like a bull-trainer to get your artwork done on time!)

As for the future; I want to be clear that even though I planned for this just to be a short story, those plans changed near the last stages of development. Levis, Alf, and Kal's stories are definitely not done yet, and I would be doing a huge disservice to them leaving it off at where it is. I honestly believe anybody who has read the story would agree with that sentiment. So I will be continuing this story. I don't know what the pace of development will be for this project, but I can guarantee it won't end here. So I bring it up to you guys:

As it stands, due to my initial creation of this as a short story, I don't have plans written out for the long term (I normally would, so this is new territory for me). So, as I'll be working on getting these things in order, my next update to this story won't be for some time, I unfortunately don't have an estimate on how long this will be, but I'll be keeping engaged with the community as far as I'm able. My question is as follows:

What would your preference of releases be?

Would monthly(but 'relatively' small) releases be more preferred over longer, more substantial releases that may take more time?

This is my first time doing this whole thing, so I'm still not sure what kind of questions I should be asking you guys, either. I would love to get your opinion on this.

I believe I've rambled on about this for long enough, but once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for showing interest in this project. Have an excellent day!

- Eymon

P.S. As something fun to do, I made a curiouscat account to answer any question you have of me, or of my characters, and I'll answer in their voice as best as I can (without spoilers, of course). Follow my twitter https://twitter.com/EymonArt to see any answers I come up with.

Tl;dr - Thanks for reading my story, and I'm gonna continue working on it, but it may take a little time. Happy Easter!

I'd prefer larger releases please! That way I won't constantly be on a cliffhanger XD

shorter and smaller updates, keeps it fresh and allows changes to be easier made without looking back at 20k* words

Quality and larger releases than short releases. Take all the time you may need.

Thank you, I'll do my best!
