September Update

Good evening, everyone!

It's been some time since I've mentioned anything about this visual novel or my plans going forward, so I'd like to do that now for those of you that are interested.

I have mentioned in the past that I've been working on a follow up visual novel to The Blue Cloth, so I want to discuss that.

The Blue Cloth was made for a game jam, in the span of about one month. A lot of decisions that were made for the story and the world of Oshova were done in haste. Though i was able to get through my initial -Write -Rewrite -Review process that I go through for everything I do, I still made some careless choices in it. I'm hoping you never notice! But to get back to the process. Because The Blue Cloth was made as part of a game jam there's a certain amount of pressure that happens that just forces you to get stuff done.

The Warlock of Cullion is not being made as part of a game jam.

This means I have a lot of time to iron out details and make sure everything is perfect. This also means I don't have that pressure of a schedule to stick to. I currently have about 35k words written for the first few chapters of the visual novel.

Well, I hit a massive creative block in the middle of last month. I haven't written a single word for the project since. To make matters worse, my sprite artist vanished. I recently got into contact with him and he's okay, but he's in the process of relocating and his ability to create has taken a massive toll. So I'm stuck with a 35k word script, no assets, and no creative will to work on the project.

Some other backstory for The Blue Cloth; it was created because I had a massive creative block. Not many people know this, but I'd been working on a different visual novel during 2020, assets for that were being developed, albeit at a glacial pace, and I hit a massive creative block. The thing I do to get past a creative block, is work on a different project. In that case, the project I worked on was The Blue Cloth for a game jam.

(This devlog was supposed to be a little update about what I am doing now, but instead I went a little too stream of consciousness.)

Anyway, to get to the point, I'm still writing, making music, and working on projects. You can hear some of my music in No More Future by Sedge, it's a splendid SFW visual novel about a guy that dies and gets turned into an android in a dystopic futuristic corporatist society. I do recommend it! I've also made some music for Blossom City, and though a new build hasn't been released as of yet, I can assure you it's in the works. It's a visual novel about a sad guy going to college and hooking up with guys that probably aren't the best influence on him.

I still managed to get myself distracted from the point.

I want to release something by the end of the year. It might not be The Warlock of Cullion (the planned follow up to this visual novel), but I will release something. If not by the end of this year, shortly after. Thank you all so much for being so supportive to this small fry visual novel developer! I appreciate you guys.

- Eymon

TL;DR - I'm working on a project that I want to release by the end of the year, but it may take longer. I've also still got plans for the follow up of The Blue Cloth, but that may take even longer.
